I’ll start at the beginning. I live on the Eastern Shore and I want to plant a garden. There is so much I don’t know about plants and gardening. I don’t know many of the names of the perennials, shrubs and trees I’ve inherited. I don’t know much about landscape design or have landscaping ideas already in my mind. I don’t know what is particularly good to grow in my very small garden by the sea. But I do know that I want to avail myself of the knowledge of the local Extension Service and the many local nurseries. I want to visit the botanical gardens on the Eastern Shore and up and down the Mid-Atlantic coast. I want to study garden design and apply the ideas to my plot. I want to harvest flowers for my home. I want to make a garden of my own.
